About

I am the luckiest guy in the world. I am a “house daddy”. My wonderful wife, Virginia and I have two kids and the world’s greatest dog. I get to play with Noah, Sasha and Samantha everyday.

Prior to this role I was the co owner of Rupperts Restaurant in Washington, DC.  We closed the place down around the time of the birth of my first son Noah.  I have always been involved in food and cooking and stopped a public health path to pursue the restaurant.  Cooking and food was a very important part of life growing up and meals and dinning with the family dominate my childhood memories.  My grandmother and mother had catering companies and my father tried to feed the world as the head of Nutrition for USAID.  Somehow food was more than just sustenance.  It was always what dominated our day.  If everyone was in town, we ate dinner together regardless of how late my father worked.  I struggled to stay awake as a youngster, but remember great food and great family conversation.  We follow the same tradition in our home and have added the family cooking into the mix.  Everyone plays a part.

This blog should have been started eight years ago before Noah was born, but it is was hard to get anything done. I will edit this page to tell the whole story, but for now you just need to know how lucky I am to have such great kids, best dog and the greatest, smartest, and most wonderful wife in the world who lets me do this everyday.  I am currently working on a cook book, coaching soccer, and trying to keep up with my family.

Kenan, this is superb! I love it. Know that you’ve got a follower in Chicago. If not for the family stories, certainly for your recipes!
