This salad is a meal. Very filling and hearty. Black eyed peas and rice make the protein. Grilled onions, string beans and asparagus are added to local greens and red peppers. The sauce is an avocado, rice wine and garlic blend. Noah’s favorite and a meal he likes when mom is away since she really likes a hot meal even if it is too hot outside to breathe.
Very exciting to get the years first crop. Every visit to the market in the spring and early summer provides a new surprise. While you kind of know what to expect each season, it is never a sure a thing. Heavy rain, cool temps or hot temps or even disease can effect the early yields. It is always best when the new crop comes to add to an already wonderful spring harvest. String beans, meet my friend asparagus.
Tonight was too hot to cook inside. I am still resisting the AC. Some of us don’t like to use it, but the kids and I are always hot. Last thing we want to do is turn on the oven or the stove so we went to the grill again. The whole dinner took less than 30 minutes after soccer practice and we served it with an awesome Cote de Jura.
The crib is gone. Adrienne Michele, David Daniel, Gabriella, Martin Lane, Noah, Sasha…. who is next? Talk about recycling, this crib has been reused many times and hopefully it will house many more.
Emotionally very hard for me. While Sasha has been able to get in and out of it for a while, it was still the best place for him.
Last night was a joke for sleeping. He was up much of night. We went to Ikea and found that they no longer make the awesome bed we got for Noah. We came home with a death bed. Sharp corners, hard edges, crap mattress and back breaking assembly. We will have to try again.
